15:8 When Asa heard these words and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he was encouraged. ¹  He removed the detestable idols from the entire land of Judah and Benjamin and from the cities he had seized in the Ephraimite hill country. He repaired the altar of the Lord in front of the porch of the Lord’s temple. ² 

2 Tawarikh 18:5

18:5 So the king of Israel assembled 400 prophets and asked them, “Should we attack Ramoth Gilead or not?” ³  They said, “Attack! God ⁴  will hand it over to the king.”

2 Tawarikh 18:16

18:16 Micaiah ⁵  replied, “I saw all Israel scattered on the mountains like sheep that have no shepherd. Then the Lord said, ‘They have no master. They should go home in peace.’”

2 Tawarikh 20:9

20:9 ‘If disaster comes on us in the form of military attack, ⁶  judgment, plague, or famine, we will stand in front of this temple before you, for you are present in this temple. ⁷  We will cry out to you for help in our distress, so that you will ⁸  hear and deliver us.’

2 Tawarikh 30:9

30:9 For if you return to the Lord, your brothers and sons will be shown mercy by their captors and return to this land. The Lord your God is merciful and compassionate; he will not reject you ⁹  if you return to him.”

The People Contribute to the Temple

31:2 Hezekiah appointed the divisions of the priests and Levites to do their assigned tasks ¹⁰  – to offer burnt sacrifices and present offerings and to serve, give thanks, and offer praise in the gates of the Lord’s sanctuary. ¹¹

This ambiguity may explain in part Jehoshaphat’s hesitancy and caution (vv. 7-8). He seems to doubt that the 400 are genuine prophets of the Lord.
